The House of Representatives has said that it will probe the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), over the alleged mismanagement of N100bn.
The decision was sequel to a motion sponsored by the Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu, on Thursday.
While moving his motion, Elumelu accused the commission of mismanaging the N100bn given by the Federal Government.
According to Elumelu, the money has "vanished" without any tangible project to account for it.
Elumelu also accused the commission's Managing Director, Mohammed Goni, of awarding non-existing contracts, massive contracts splitting and over inflation of contracts.
The allegations was also linked to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Farouq, as she was alleged to have involved in a unholy deal with Goni, to illegally withdraw funds for the purchase of military vehicles without any recourse to the board.
The motion was adopted after it was put to voice vote by the House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The motion was referred to the House Committees on Finance, Procurement and NEDC, as report on the probe is expected in the next eight weeks
The NEDC was established in 2017 with the aim and vision to reconstruct states affected by insurgency, such as the Boko-Haram attacks, in the North-East states.
