Oshiomhole, Bello, Ganduje Slammed US Visa Ban, El-Rufai's Ban Extended

From insights gathered from SaharaReporters and US officials, former Edo state governor and national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has been slammed with visa ban by the United States Government.

Also, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on the other hand had his own visa ban extended.

El-Rufai had since 2010 been banned from entering the US over a graft case.

It is also reported that more Nigerian politicians are likely to be included in the US visa ban list after the forthcoming Edo Guber election if they are involved in election malpractice.

The affected had their latest visa ban received by email notifications and text messages.

Spokesperson for the Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, disclosed that those issued the visa bans were sanctioned for undermining Nigeria's democracy.

Morgan Ortagus statement reads in part;

“In July 2019, we announced the imposition of visa restrictions on Nigerians who undermined the February and March 2019 elections. Today, the Secretary of State is imposing additional visa restrictions on individuals for their actions surrounding the November 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa states elections and in the run up to the September and October 2020 Edo and Ondo states elections."
