Man Nabbed With 2,886 ATM Cards At Lagos Airport


A suspect, Ishaq Abubakar, who was found with 2,886 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards has been arrested and handed over by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) command, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). 


Deputy Controller of the MMIA, Abdulmumin Bako, during a media interview disclosed that four Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards were also intercepted with the suspect. 


The SIM and ATM cards were reportedly concealed by the suspect in a noodles cartoon. 


The suspect confessed that one Mr Musliu was assigned to him to facilitate his smooth movement through the airport checks by another Mr Suleiman, the concealment was however discovered when the officers insisted on conducting physical examination. 


The suspect with the Passport Number "A08333717", an indigene of Kano state, was intercepted while travelling to Dubai via Emirates evacuation flight the previous month. 


Also confirming this, the Lagos Zonal Head EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said that the ATM cards could be used for money laundering crimes. 


Further investigations has commenced as the suspect and other involved conspirators will be duly prosecuted if found guilty within the law.
