Lagos Police Allegedly Rejects N500k Bribe Offered By Suspects Arrested With Stolen Construction Materials


Police operatives attached to the Area E Command in Festac, Lagos state, reportedly rejected the sum of N500,000 offered as bribe to them by some arrested suspects. 


It was gathered that the suspects in a Ford bus with Registration Number "FST 679 XZ", were arrested for alleged theft of some 25mm iron rods discovered to be properties of China Construction Engineering Company (CCEC). 

Confirming this, a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, states that the arrested suspects were alleged to have offered a whooping bribe of half a million naira (N500k) to the police operatives who however rejected the offer. 

He disclosed the identities of the suspects as Lawal Saheed, m, 40; Omotayo Adewale, m, 34; Azeez Jamie, m, 41; Ope Olowolayemo, m, 28, and Taofeek Adenigba, m, 43.


Items recovered include one Nozzle, one gas cylinder, some pieces of 25mm iron rods and a Ford Bus with Reg. No. FST 697 XZ. 

He added that further investigations has commenced on the matter and that the suspects will be duly charged to court soon, as ordered by the Lagos State Commisoner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
