Northern Group Warns VP Osinbajo Over Statement On Nigeria's Breakup

VP Yemi Osinbajo

Arewa Consultative Forum, a northern socio-political group, has criticized and warned Nigeria's Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over his recent statement that present cracks could lead to a breakup in the country.

As the northern group admitted to present unhealthy cracks in the country, it however warned the Vice President not to make such statements that would escalate tension in the country.

The Arewa Consultative Forum warned Osinbajo on statements capable of creating further fuss in the country.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was recently represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, at an interdenominational church service held in Abuja to commemorate Nigeria's 60th Independence anniversary, had said that the nation's wall might not yet be broken but signified obvious cracks that could lead to a break if not properly addressed.

While reacting to the SGF's read Osinbajo's speech, the ACF assured that any present unhealthy cracks in the country will be addressed and warned Vice President not to make such negative statements.

Also, National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Emmanuel Yawe while also reacting to Osinbajo's statement has cautioned Nigeria leaders to "watch their words".

“The cracks are unhealthy, but we expect the Vice President to calm nerves and not make a pronouncement that will aggravate the situation," he said.
