Nigeria, US and others barred from entry into Europe

Nigeria has been added to the list of countries whose passengers would not be allowed into Europe as it's borders reopens today (Tuesday). Included are Brazil, Qatar, and others. However, the US and Russia would be allowed entry into Europe at a later date when the epidemiological situation in these countries has subsided.

After a deliberation held at the European Union meeting, it released a list of 54 countries qualified to travel to Europe as the Coalition opens its borders which was closed to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Some of the countries from which travellers are allowed entry into Europe are Algeria, Albania, Angola, Andorra, Australia, Bhutan, Bahamas, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada and others.

Spokesperson of the European Union, Eric Mamer, said that the union reserve the right to choose who would enter its borders. “The EU has an internal process used to determine from which countries it would be safe to accept passengers,” He said.

Brutal violation of human rights by SARS officials needs to be stopped _ Amnesty International

Amnesty International has called for the end of the brutal violation of human rights by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). It also accused the Government of deliberately acting lackadaisical to prosecute lawlessness officers from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, despite the anti-torture legislation passed in 2017.

Continuous evidence have shown SARS officers continual use of torture, to punish and retrieve information from suspects.

Meanwhile, the Amnesty international with its latest report has documented record's of at least 82 scenarios of torture, ill treatment, and extra-judicial executions by SARS between January 2017 and May, 2020.

"The Nigerian ruling authorities fails to bring an end to this gross human rights violations by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Nigerians are furious with the unacceptable human rights violations perpetrated by SARS officials with impunity,” said Osai Ojigho, Director of Amnesty International Nigeria.

Amnesty International research conducted have shown disturbing pattern of abuse of Nigerians by this brutal officers.

Obaseki Wins Edo PDP Governorship Primaries... (PHOTOS)

Incumbent Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has won the Edo governorship primaries under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Obaseki who joined the PDP on Friday, June 19, 2020, after his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) had picked up his PDP membership card at the PDP secretariat in Benin City, Edo state.

While addressing officials, the governor said he automatically becomes the PDP leader in the state following his defection from the APC. He also promised his utmost commitment in providing quality leadership, adding his readiness to lead the state and the party to victory in the forthcoming governorship election.

“The energy i see in the new party (PDP) is the kind of energy i require to take Edo to the next required," He said.

Obaseki's victory is coming just Three days after joining the PDP, an arc rival of Obaseki also chasing the PDP ticket, Engr. Gideon Ikhine, had earlier stepped down for Obaseki in the Edo Governorship primaries.

Obaseki had defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC), when the party disqualified him from contesting in the primaries before joining the opposition party, PDP.

The battle is now between the main contenders for the September 19, 2020 Edo governorship election in persons of Pastor Ize Iyamu of the APC (ruling party), and Godwin Obaseki (PDP), who just defected from the APC where he won the 2016 Edo Governorship election which made him the incumbent governor.

Man Chases Away Task Force Officers With His Faeces So As To Avoid Arrest...(Video)

Pandemonium occurred today (Wednesday) in Rumumasi, Port Harcourt, Rivers state, after an unidentified man went on extra miles in order to avoid his arrest.

According to the video shared on Instablog, some task force officers of Rivers state had attempted to arrest the said man after violating one of the state orders.

In an attempt to avoid his arrest, he defecated on his car which he thereafter used to chase the officers who were already on the run as he was naked.

A Nigerian slay queen with the Twitter handle @Loyizzo8, has been exposed after narrating fake story on Twitter on how she was once raped by a family member as a teen. It turned out she was telling a lie as she cooked it up with the aim of trending on social media.

She had falsely accused an uncle of sexually assaulting her when she was younger. However, nemesis caught up with her after someone who knew her inquired and she revealed doing it so as to get fame.

As she was later exposed on the same platform, she has deleted her Twitter handle due to shame from the revelation.

My mum is 4 weeks pregnant for my husband, they are pleading for me to keep it secret_ Lady seeks advice

An unidentified lady has seeked for advice on a Facebook page after discovering her mother is pregnant for her husband.

According to the 22-year-old lady, she got married around January last year and gave birth on March, 2020. Then her middle-aged mother had come around to check on them.

After staying for over two months and two weeks as she was supposed to go back to the village, the lady's hubby insisted for an additional one month stay since there was still lockdown.

Drama started unfolding when her mother became sick as she thought it was malaria. While she took her to the hospital for several tests, it was discovered that her mum is four weeks pregnant for her husband.

While her Mum and husband are both pleading for her to keep their misdeed a secret as they plan to abort the baby before her mum goes back to the village, she is angry and confused on what to do if she should report to her Dad in the village and also quit the marriage.

The United Nations (UN) has appointed Nigerian legendary singer, 2Baba (formerly 2face idibia), as its Refugees Goodwill Ambassador.

This was announced by the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees through its official social media handle.

"We are so excited to share the news that @official2baba has been appointed @refugees Goodwill Ambassador!

“2Baba, your steadfast commitment for refugees and internally displaced people is remarkable and we are excited to continue this journey with you! Thank you for uplifting the narrative of the Africa refugee and IDP," the agency wrote.

It acknowledged the singer's devotion and commitment to the welfare of internally displaced persons and refugees.

While reacting to this and in appreciation, 2Baba promised to raise more support and awareness to refugees.

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken another dimension as security operatives sealed its National Secretariat in Abuja, stopping members of the National Working Committee (NWC) from gaining entry into the complex.

This is coming after the recent self-declaration of Victor Giadom as the National Chairman of the APC, with court order backing up his claim.

Meanwhile, the security operatives claimed to be acting on orders from the above as they prevented APC staffs, Journalist, and others from gaining entry into the building. Additional security operatives have also been deployed to the area.

"Kindly disregard all rumours", Ajimobi is not dead _ Bolaji Tunji

Media Adviser to Abiola Ajimobi, Bolaji Tunji, has urged the public to disregard all death rumours of the ex-Oyo state governor and senator, Abiola Ajimobi.

While announcing this through his Facebook handle, he disclosed that Ajimobi is still alive but urged the public to be prayerful. A statement which makes it obvious that Ajimobi's condition could be very critical.

There have been rumour reports on the former Oyo governor’s death, without credible confirmation.

Multiple sources have indicated that Ajimobi is obviously in a critical condition but not dead yet, as against his rumoured death reports.

Some of Ajimobi’s close political allies have disclosed that the former governor and APC deputy chairman is still alive.

“His condition is stable, the doctors said”, said one of the top leaders of the APC.

“He is not dead. But his condition is bad”, another APC stalwart said. (Culled from PM news)

Ajimobi, 70, has been treating a serious COVID-19 illness at the First Cardiology Consultants Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos state, where he slipped into coma and has been on the ventilator nearly to two weeks now.

Ajimobi represented Oyo state in the senate between 2003 and 2007. He was elected governor in 2011 and 2015. He however failed in his bid to return as a senator in 2019.

He was recently appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole.

Few hours after the appointment of ex-Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, the party's Deputy National Secretary "Victor Giadom" has taken over the position.

In a statement from the legal counsel to Giadom, Oluwole Afolabi noted that a court had recognized Giadom as the Acting National Chairman of the APC. Hence, an earlier statement issued by the party affirming Abiola Ajimobi as the Acting National Chairman must have been issued out in error, as it is against the order of the FCT High Court issued on the 16th of March, 2020. Details attached below;

The statement also warns Ajimobi from parading as the Acting Chairman as he would face the contempt of the law if he does.

Meanwhile, Giadom has reversed all decisions taken by the Adams Oshiomhole leadership on the party's primary in Edo state. While addressing newsmen in Abuja, he called on all APC aspirants including Governor Obaseki of Edo state for a fresh screening process.

Former Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi Appointed As APC Acting National Chairman

Former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, have been appointed as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

This was announced through a statement released by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu.

This is after the affirmation of the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who was the National Chairman of the party, by the ruling of the Court of Appeal. The High Court of the Federal capital Territory, Abuja, had on March 24, 2020, suspended Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the APC.

On the statement confirming Ajimobi's appointment as the acting National Chairman of the APC, it reads thus;

"The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress has received the news indicating the Appeal Court has upheld the suspension of the Party’s National Chairman,Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by an FCT High Court pending the determination of the substantive suit.

"Guided by advice from the Party’s legal department in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi will serve as the Party’s Acting National Chairman.

"According to Section 14.2. (iii),of the APC constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”. (Culled from Lailasnews)

What Really Happened On The Alleged Gunshots Fired At Aso Villa _ Presidency

Recently, there have been news on an alleged series of gunshots heard at the Presidential villa in Abuja. This have raised many concerns from the public, worried at what might have caused the security or protocol breach.

Reportedly, shots were fired in the Presidential Villa when Aisha Buhari's Aide-de-camp, Usman Shugaba, attempted to force President Muhammadu Buhari's special assistant "Sabiu Yusuf" into isolation over COVID-19 fear. This was learnt to have resulted into a hot dispute between the duos as Yusuf insisted that he was not the only aide in the villa who have travelled despite the Inter-state travel ban imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Yusuf had gone to visit his wife who just put to bed and wondered why the self isolation should be mandated strictly for him. He was also inquisitive to know why the new Chief of Staff, Prof. Gambari who almost travel on a weekly basis and yet was still not questioned.

Gunshots later erupted from Usman in an attempt to apprehend Yusuf, the latter had to breach protocols as he ran for safety to the residence of President Muhammadu Buhari's Cousin, Mamman Daura, where he allegedly spent the night.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Nigeria Police, Mohammed Adamu, later ordered the arrest of Usman with his other security subordinates.

While illuminating more light on the incident, President Muhammadu Buhari Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, through his Twitter handle said that the President was fine and was not in any danger which might have erupted from the alleged shootings.

According to Garba Shehu, the incident occurred outside the main quarters of the President.

His further statement reads in part;

"Having authorized the proper investigation to be carried out into this unfortunate incident by the Police, the President has acted in compliance with the rule of law.

"That a minor occurrence is being used by some critics to justify attacks on the government and the person of President Muhammadu Buhari beggars belief.

2 Polytechnic Students Dies During Sex Romp In Imo

Two undergraduate students of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, in Owerri, Imo state, have reportedly died during a sexual romp.

The deceased identified as Cynthia Obieshi and Samuel Ojusi died on Sunday. While confirming the incident, Imo State Police Spokesperson, Orlando Okeokwu said that men of the Police force were sent to the incident venue; Room 19, Vic-Mic lodge, following an earlier report received at the Police station. On the arrival of the Police team, the lifeless bodies of Cynthia and Samuel were found.

It was learnt that Cynthia had visited Samuel who appears to be her boyfriend on Saturday and had passed the night with him. Unfortunately, both could not wake up the following morning after the alleged sexual romp during the night.

Preliminary investigations also suggests that both could have consumed sexual-enhancing drugs. Further investigations have commenced as the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.
